Plainly, before you come

We'd rather you arrive knowing exactly what the hills are like.

The road

Tar to the gate. The last 400 m is rough — any SUV is fine; a sedan only in dry weather. We'll send a car from Darjeeling if you'd rather not drive it.

Hot water

Geyser hot water 6–9 AM and 6–9 PM. Bucket hot water any other time, just ask. It's the hills — we're honest about this.

The view

Kanchenjunga on any clear morning, straight from the Peak Room window and the garden. Best October–February. Monsoon is green and cloud-wrapped.
